In Edmonton, Alberta, two multi-unit condominium buildings decided it was time to take control of their energy bills. By installing rooftop solar systems on both buildings at the same time, they proved that going solar isn’t limited by geography or climate. With careful planning, smart engineering, and close coordination, these projects show how the communities can achieve meaningful, long-term energy savings, even in northern Canada.
Each building was equipped with a high-performance solar system, one at 76 kW and the other at 83 kW, for a combined total of 215 Longi solar panels supported by 80 inverters. Together, the systems are expected to generate more than 160,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, helping offset a significant portion of the buildings’ operational energy needs.
Building Through Alberta’s Winter
Winter conditions never stopped us from delivering a reliable and high-quality solar solution to customers. Installing rooftop systems on high-rise residential buildings during an Alberta winter required enhanced safety planning and precise coordination. Our crews implemented rigorous safety protocols and adapted workflows to ensure the installation was completed efficiently, despite seasonal and environmental challenges.
While winter brings snow and shorter daylight hours, it does not halt solar production. These systems continue generating electricity year-round, even during colder months. To give our customers complete peace of mind, Polaron provides comprehensive warranties on both equipment and workmanship, ensuring reliable performance for years to come.

Securing Rebates Within a Tight Timeline
These projects were tied to the Climate Change for Homes commercial rebate, which came with a strict November 2025 deadline. With time-sensitive requirements in place, our engineering and project management teams accelerated every stage of the process, from site assessment and documentation to installation and system handover. Both projects were completed in just five months, enabling the customer to successfully secure a 23% local commercial solar rebate, which significantly reduced the overall project costs.
When the customer learned they were not eligible for the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) due to their non-profit condominium status, Polaron stepped in with an alternative solution. Through our Energy as a Service program, the customer gained access to predictable monthly payments over a 15-year term, making cash-flow management simpler while still benefiting from clean, renewable energy.
