Canada passed new legislation under the One Canadian Economy Act on June 26th that expedites major nation-building projects.
Part of the bill will act to speed up clean energy projects and fast-track federal approval for investments that boost Canada’s economic standing and independence as a country.
Although the exact projects haven’t been selected yet, the government wants to focus on energy corridors that include large-scale renewable systems. It’s a promising development for the green energy industry and solar.
Although renewable energy is a highlighted focus, the legislation also welcomes advancements in highways, electric transmission lines, and airports.
The bill provides more opportunities for large solar farms to be built across the country, enhancing our standing as a global energy super-power.
With a lot of uncertainty looming, the federal government sees the bill as a gateway towards a more prosperous and self-reliant future. We’ll see more specifics about the type of clean energy projects that are on the government’s priority list. However we see anything that speeds up clean energy projects as a win for the industry and our commitment to net-zero.
A boom for renewables and solar energy is on the horizon as Canada continues to lock in on big developments within the country. We hope to be a big part of the next phase of Canada’s renewable energy growth.
