Calgary’s Green Retrofit Loan Programs recently welcomed an additional $30 Million in funding.
The program initially started in 2023 to assist homeowners in Calgary with energy efficient projects, including solar installations. The loan opened the door for many solar upgrades in the city thanks to its long terms and low interest rates—sustained with funding from the federation of Canadian Municipalities and Calgary’s fiscal sustainability reserve.
Calgary Green Retrofit Loan Programs Set To Re-Open Applications in May
The additional funding comes in as a response to the high volume of applicants over the last 2 years, expanding funds to keep the Green Retrofit Loan Programs open for at least another 2 years.
Many homeowners and businesses have been eager to sign up for the loan, seeing it as a budget-friendly opportunity to upgrade their properties with retrofits that will lower energy expenses in the long run.
Applications are expected to re-open for both residential and commercial green energy loan programs on the city’s website starting May 28th, 2025 for a limited time. The loan also includes a generous incentive of up to 10% on total project costs.
Businesses and homeowners that may have missed the last round should prepare to apply as soon as possible to secure approval for the loan.
