Can I Install Additional Panels After My Solar System Project is Complete?

Usage over the years can understandably change. If so, you may be thinking of installing more panels to your existing system.

We love helping Canadians reach their highest solar potential, so we are definitely open to discussing possible additions with our customers. However, there are some factors that will impact whether we can install more panels for you. Below is some basic information on how extension projects work with us.

Any extensions to an existing system would be treated as a brand new project. This includes all of the original steps we completed for your current system.

As of now, the minimum system size that we install is 5 KW. This is because there is a fixed cost associated with every project, such as engineering design, permitting fees and balance of the system. If a system is too small, the economic benefits wouldn’t be enough to justify the additional investment. Our goal is to ensure that your savings are always optimized with any solar project.

If you are ok with the minimum size for an extension, please reach out to your sales rep or our sales team at sales@polaronsolar.com. We will have a specialist reach out to you and begin preparing a new proposal for your extension.

Please also keep in mind that your eligibility for additional panels will depend on if there is available space on your roof for the minimum system size. If you are approved with adequate space, please expect the efficiency of the new panels to be lower than your current system since we always try to utilize the efficient parts of your roof first.
