After nearly 3 years of success, the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) is set to end and will not take on new applications past March, 2024.
CGHG was created with the purpose of helping Canadians make energy efficient and eco-friendly upgrades to their homes—offering up to $5000 in total. The grant quickly grew in popularity and had thousands applying in just the first year, proving that Canadians want to make a difference for the planet and their homes.
With the program now ending 3 years earlier than expected, it’s important that anyone who is thinking about making a home upgrade acts now by booking your initial energy audit. Having your energy audit complete secures access to grant funds, keeping the door open for future energy efficient retrofits, such as solar, heat pumps, insulation and many other qualified options.
For anyone who is in the process of getting solar with our Sunline program and hasn’t booked the initial assessment yet, it’s especially crucial that you do that now to ensure you can receive the grant money once your installation is complete.
We expect an announcement to be made by NRCan in the coming weeks with more information about the specifics of the program ending.
